How can we as God’s people, be his temple?   How can He live within us?

The Bible says, "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?  If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him for the temple of god is holy, which temple you are," 1 Cor 3:16-17.  "…For you are the temple of the living God.  As God has said:  I will dwell in them and walk among them.  I will be their God, and they shall be My people."  2 Cor 6:16

In John chapter 3 a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews asked Jesus about being born again.  Jesus told him that "…unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God," John 3:3.  Nicodemus don't understand Jesus, "How can a man be born when he is old?  Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" verse 4.  Jesus answered him, "Unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God," verse 5.  Here Jesus explained to Nicodemus that he has to be baptized in the water and the Holy Spirit will live within him then he could enter the kingdom of Heaven.

In answer to your question "we as God's people be his temple" means the Holy Spirit of God will live in us and our bodies become God's temple, a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is the representative of Jesus after He died and left us.  In John !4:16-17  Jesus says "and I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."

Jesus said He would not leave us as orphan.  In John 14:19-20 "A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me.  Because I live, you will live also.  At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you."

Jesus told Nicodemus in John 4:6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit," which means that we cannot understand how the spirit can live within our bodies if we do not have the spiritual mind to accept it.  "Just like the wind it blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but you cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.  So is everyone who is born of the Spirit," John 4:8

Arthur I will pray that you will understand "how can we as God's people be his temple and how can he live within us.  It takes faith to understand the spiritual term.  Hebrew 11:1 says " Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  I hope you will take your time to search the scripture as John 5:39 says "Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life and these are they which testify of Me."
