Why God needs us to be available?

God helps those who help themselves.   One can be very talented but it is useless if one does not have the desire to expose it and use it.  One must have a desire to be used then God will motivate and call us.    In Isaiah 64:8  “But now, O Lord, thou art our father, we are the clay and thou our potter; and we all are the work of they hand.”  We have to be so humble that God can use us and mold us the way he wants us to be.  Rom 12:1  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present; your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Here are some examples of characters of people who are available and God used them in different ways.  During the Old Testament time there was Noah.  Gen 6:8  “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”  Gen. 6:9 “…Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”  Note Noah was not only just but he has good relationship with God as mentioned ‘Noah walked with God.

Gen 12:1-3 God called Abram to leave his country to a land He wanted him to go   As you read the rest of the story about Abram’s call you will know that Abraham was a faithful patriot and God could use him.

During the Exodus God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.  Moses told God that the Israelites would not listen to him neither will the Pharaoh of Egypt listen to him because he was not a well spoken person as he mentioned in Ex. 6:12 “And Moses speak before the Lord, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips?”  Again, in Ex 6:30 And Moses said before the Lord, Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken; unto me?  In Ex 7:2 God told Moses that Aaron will speak to the Pharaoh (Aaron was a good speaker) and Moses will lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

In the book of Joshua 1:1, After the death of Moses God spoke to Joshua to be the leader to lead the Israelites out of Egypt to the Promised Land.  Josh 1:6 & 9 ‘Be strong and of a good courage; for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give to them.  Have I not commanded thee?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed; for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersover thou goest.
