Since the Bible says, “we are saved by grace” does it mean that we can continue to live in sin?

Yes, we're saved by grace and not by works.  Jesus has paid the price for our sins.  Though, we have the promise in Eph 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."  This does not give us an excuse for continuing in sin.  Rom 6:1-2 "What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  God forbid.  How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?"   The Bible in 2 Cor 5:10 says: "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”  Faith in God, does not allow us to void the law.  “Do we then make void the law through  faith?  God forbid; yea, we establish the law”  Rom 3:31.   “What then?  Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?  Certainly not!” Rom 6:15.

Many Christians have the wrong idea, “Once saved always saved,” this is not true that we would never perish once we accepted Jesus as the Savior.  Yes, once we are baptized we have the promise from God that we are saved.  But, in order to be saved always, we need to continue to grow in relationship with God in faith, believing His promise to save us from sin through Jesus Christ’s atonement.   After one truly receives Christ, one’s life will manifest Christ-likeness. I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me, and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me.  And gave himself for me” Gal. 2:20.

Once a person is saved by grace through faith and have good relationship with God he would obey and follows God’s law.  He will have the Spirit of “love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Gal 5:22-25.   “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. ”Rom 8:1-2

“Those who are in the flesh cannot please God”Rom 8:8. “…Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His”Rom 8: 9.   “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit” Rom 8:5.  “So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God” Rom 8:8.   “…For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has and inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.  Let no one deceive you with empty words for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.   Therefore do not be partakers with them.  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.  Walk as children of light.  (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth)”Eph 5:3-9.  Christians, who are baptized in Jesus Christ are called to continual consecration as in Rom 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

James 5:19-20 “Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”

Maria, the Holy Spirit can only help this married man who constantly engages in phonography and is entangled further in the sin.  We at Bibleinfo.com will pray for him and you need to pray for him too.  Maybe, encourage him to seek help from marriage counselor or help from professional agencies.   -Since, he is a Christian he should get help from his church pastor, who might be able to direct him to walk righteously again.

1 John 1:9 say, “If we confess our sins, Hs is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

He needs to read his Bible and pray himself and must be aware that he is not doing the right thing.  As in Eph 6:11-18 “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil….praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”  (Please read all the texts in the Bible).
